Welcome to your own private writing retreat, nestled in the mountains of Northern New Mexico.

At The SOLO @ OJO, you’ll find the quiet you’ve been craving—undisturbed time to write, dream, and create—surrounded by the rhythms of an organic farm. Think: dairy cows, chickens, gardens in bloom, and a few very helpful cats (the best kind of writing companions, obviously).

The space includes three dedicated writing areas (one outdoors for those golden summer sessions), and—this part makes us giddy—a cozy library filled exclusively with books by our favorite women authors.

Yes, there’s basically a feminist bookstore in the casita.

Every writer needs a space.

That’s why we created The SOLO @ OJO—a quiet refuge tucked in the mountains, where the noise of the world softens and the work can begin. We’ve done a lot of writing up here, and now we want to share that stillness with you.

The world doesn’t often hand writers solitude or silence. We have to seek it. Protect it. Sometimes, we even have to apply for it.

But I believe in the value of carving out space for your voice, your vision, your work.
You deserve that space. You deserve the time to follow your creative thread wherever it leads.

Details

  • Writers are encouraged to rent out The SOLO @ OJO for a couple weeks or one month at a time. Our minimum stay is three nights.

  • We have fiber optic internet in the space meaning, our internet is hard wired into the space. We do not have WIFI. We provide all necessary adaptors for phone, iPads and laptops to ensure you are connected!

  • Phone service is spotty out here so we also provide a landline in the space.

  • Our farm is situated an hour north of Santa Fe and an hour south of Taos providing access to both communities. We live 20-minutes away from an organic food coop in Dixon, NM as well as have artisinal dairy products available right here on our farm.

  • We provide guests with lists and resources to all local hot spots upon booking.

  • For guests who come between the months of November - April, we recommend a 4-wheel vehicle.

  • In winter months, guests need to be comfortable making a fire in the casita. We will provide all the wood for you and teach you how to make a fire.

  • At this time, we do not allow pets.
